The purpose of this paper is two-fold. First, while Pentecostals have always been proficient at packaging the Gospel message they have largely ignored the foundational process behind it. Pentecostals are fond of saying the Bible is their guidepost, but what is their criteria for adjudicating between conflicting interpretations and subsequent church practices? To this end, I will describe this process, for better or for worse, as a mild-mannered pragmatism. Second, it is hoped that a paper such as this can serve as a catalyst for further discussion relating to the future direction of the Pentecostal faith.
